Set up and assign priorities

Use priorities to give certain applicants precedence, such as siblings of currently enrolled children. Priority is set on the person’s record. A status, such as Waiting or Tour Scheduled, describes progress on a list.

Create and rank priorities

  1. Go to Settings > Priorities.
  2. Click Add Priority, enter a Name, and click Create.
  3. On the Priorities page, drag the arrows beside a priority up or down to set its rank. P1 ranks ahead of P2. Use Edit beside a priority to rename it.

Assign a priority to someone

  1. Find the applicant with Search people and open their record.
  2. Click Edit person and choose a value in Priority. For a child’s application, edit the child’s record.
  3. Save the changes and reopen the list to check the resulting position.

How priority affects list order

For a list sorted by Date Added, WaitlistPlus automatically uses priority and Date Added to calculate position. An applicant with priority can appear ahead of someone who joined earlier. For example, a child with P1 can appear ahead of a child with P2 even if the P2 child joined first.

For a list using Manual sorting, review its displayed order and use the list’s manual reorder controls when you need to set an exact position. See Manage a person’s place on a list.

Protect people with priority during cleanup

In Settings > Lists > List Cleanup, check Do not remove people with a priority to exclude anyone with an assigned priority from that cleanup. This applies to every priority rank. Preview the cleanup before applying it. See List cleanup.
